Arrowverse comes full circle with its first comic book crossover event, Earth-Prime
By Chris Arrant published about 6 hours ago
The Arrowverse assembles in comics for the Earth-Prime event
The CW's DC television shows are coming full circle to a comic book event set in the canon of the Arrowverse universe.
Launching April 5, Earth-Prime is a three-month, six-issue event with the first five issues spotlighting a current individual CW/DC series, with the final issue (Earth-Prime #6) being a full-on Arrowverse crossover.
Actors, writers, and even showrunners from the shows will be involved in the creation of each double-sized issue approved by the show's producers.
With the unlimited possibilities of comic books, the event could potentially feature characters, settings, and action sequences not possible on the budgets of weekly TV series and could also include the possible returns of characters from Arrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning, all series no longer in production.
DC has released information about the first two issues both on sale in April. Here's a rundown:
Earth-Prime #1 - Batwoman (April 5)
The event kicks off April 5 with Earth-Prime #1, featuring characters from the Batwoman TV series. The story stars the titular new Batwoman (Ryan Wilder) dealing with classic Batman villain Clayface (making his Arrowverse in-continuity debut) who binds himself to a local high school student along with Luke Fox who deals with being both a new superhero and a boyfriend.
Earth-Prime #1 will be written by show writers Natalie Abrams and Kelly Larson, along with the Luke Fox/Batwing actor Camrus Johnson. Comic book veteran Clayton Henry draws the issue.
Earth-Prime #2 - Superman & Lois (April 19)
In this episo– err, issue - of Earth-Prime, Clark Kent and Lois Lane celebrate their first wedding anniversary but are pulled off track by their respective careers as superhero and reporter. Plus the origins of the evil Superman variant from Earth-TUD22 that's been teased in the first two seasons of the show will finally be explored directly.
Earth-Prime #2 will be written by Superman & Lois writers - Adam Mallinger, Jai Jamison, and Andrew Wong. Classic Superman artist Tom Grummett will be drawing the issue, with inker Norm Rapmund.
Both of the first two issues of Earth-Prime feature covers by Kim Jacinto along with a Batwoman and Superman and Lois photo variant cover for the first and second issue, respectively.
Future issues of Earth-Prime
Earth-Prime #s 3 through 5 will feature stories set in the continuity of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl (solidifying the series' loose ties to the Arrowverse), and The Flash, all written or co-written by creative talent from the shows.
All of the first five issues will also feature bonus material created by cast members of the shows, along with "teasers" that give readers clues to the "nature of the final crossover in issue #6," according to DC.
While the first five issues are all based on the current DC-TV line-up, as we mentioned, appearances by characters from any previous or current Arrowverse shows in any issue but especially the sixth crossover is possible, including in-development series like Gotham Knights and Justice U.
Stay tuned to Newsarama for more details on this project leading up to its debut on April 5.

Supergirl's Season 6 Arrowverse Timeline Is Finally Confirmed
A conversation between Lena Luthor and Ryan Wilder in the Earth-Prime comic reveals when Supergirl season 6 took place in the Arrowverse timeline.
BY MATT MORRISON
PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO
Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Earth-Prime: Batwoman #1 and Supergirl season 6.
The first issue of the Earth-Prime mini-series confirmed just when in the Arrowverse timeline Supergirl season 6 takes place. This was a point of confusion for many, given all of the usual events which synched up the television shows making up the shared universe of the CW superheroes were canceled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, a conversation between Lena Luthor and Ryan Wilder in Earth-Prime: Batwoman #1 confirmed when the events of Supergirl season 6 occurred and also offered a sample of the crossovers that couldn't be filmed over the past two years.
The action of Earth-Prime: Batwoman (by Natalie Abrams, Kelly Larson, Clayton Henry, and Marcelo Maiolo) was set in the middle of Batwoman season 3, as Ryan Wilder found herself under fire on multiple fronts. Beyond being blackmailed by former GCPD Detective Renee Montoya and threatened by business magnate Jada Jet, Ryan had also just been forced out of her position as CEO of Wayne Enterprises in favor of her half-brother, Marquis Jet. To add insult to injury, this last action had been facilitated, in part, by her best friend, Dr. Mary Hamilton, who had become possessed by Poison Ivy.
Given the stress she was under, it was unsurprising that Ryan forgot that she had an appointment with Lena Luthor. The supergenius scientist turned sorceress from Supergirl had officially come to Gotham City to discuss acquiring a sample of Victor Fries' technology for a new renewable energy source. Unofficially she had come to deliver a message from Supergirl regarding the first Batwoman Kate Kane speaking well of Ryan and her hope their two teams could help one another to help more people. The fact that Lena referred to herself as the head of the Lena Luthor Foundation rather than LuthorCorp confirmed that the series finale of Supergirl, where Lena changed the name and focus of her family's company, took place before the events of Earth-Prime: Batwoman #1, which was set just after Batwoman season 3, episode 7, "Pick Your Poison."
Teaming Lena Luthor and Ryan Wilder proves to be a brilliant idea and it is unfortunate that the story of Earth-Prime: Batwoman #1 did not get filmed for the television series. Beyond offering her scientific skills in helping Ryan battle a new incarnation of Clayface, Lena also gives Ryan some advice on handling both Jada and Marquis Jet, having had ample experience working around both her own manipulative mother and her megalomaniac brother, Lex Luthor. Lena also tells Ryan that Kate Kane spoke well of her to Kara Danvers and thought the two of them "could make a pretty fine team someday."
Sadly, fans of Supergirl will never get to see that particular World's Finest team-up, unless Melissa Benoist returns to play Kara Danvers one more time in a future episode of Batwoman. This presumes, of course, that there are future episodes of Batwoman, as the series has yet to be renewed for season 4. Fans can rest easy, however, knowing now just when the final episodes of Supergirl took place relative to the rest of the Arrowverse series.

The CW's Batwoman Finally Had a Supergirl Crossover
BY ANDREW HERBISON
PUBLISHED 3 HOURS AGO
Batwoman and Supergirl never got a crossover on TV but the Arrowverse's Earth-Prime comic tie-in just made up for that.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Earth-Prime #1, on sale now from DC Comics.
Crossing over Arrowverse shows Batwoman and Supergirl seems like a natural choice. After all, the Arrowverse had ramped up to crossovers every season, so why shouldn't newcomer Batwoman get in on the fun? And so, a plan was made for the two series to crossover during their first and fifth seasons, respectively.
Unfortunately, COVID had other ideas.
The network scuttled plans as they shut down sets to protect the cast and crew. Alas, news of Supergirl ending after Season 6 soon followed, effectively ending the possibility of a televised team-up. Thankfully, comics still exist. The crossover that fans have been longing for has finally happened in Earth-Prime #1 (Natalie Abrams, Kelly Larson, Clayton Henry, Marcelo Maiolo, and Tom Napolitano). Sort of.
In the opening issue, Ryan Wilder had to contend with a new Clayface and struggled to find a way to contain him. That's when Supergirl's Lena Luthor showed up. Kara directed Lena toward Wayne Enterprises and, more specifically, its (former) CEO Ryan Wilder. Lena had been working on a renewable energy source and needed a stabilizing agent. The perfect solution was Mr. Freeze's freeze serum, which was a significant plot point in season 3 of the Batwoman show. In the end, Lena's work on the freeze serum provided a solution to stopping Clayface and ending her own troubles.
Although this isn't exactly the crossover fans were hoping for back at the first announcement, there are hints that some such crossover did happen off-screen. Moreover, there are suggestions that another one could be possible. Lena mentioned that when Kate Kane left Gotham at the end of Batwoman season 2, she paid a visit to Kara Danvers. Despite being not shown, this was the reunion that everyone anticipated. It's nice to know that it happened at the very least.
It also turns out that Kate didn't forget to mention the new Batwoman to Supergirl. Apparently, she even mentioned that Kara should visit Gotham for a team-up sometime. That's why Lena featured in this issue and already knew about Ryan Wilder's crime-fighting alter ego. It seems Kate has so much faith in her successor that she believes Ryan and Kara could be a great team someday. The next World's Finest, perhaps.
That also implies that a televised Batwoman/Supergirl crossover remains possible. Even though Supergirl is off the air now, the titular character could still fly over to Gotham in a future episode of Batwoman. During its "Armageddon" event, the Flash crossed over with several canceled Arrowverse shows during its "Armageddon" event. Characters such as Black Lightning, Mia Queen, and Supergirl's Alex Danvers all made appearances, showing that they still have a future even after their shows are laid to rest. Even Ryan showed up.
It may not be the crossover fans expected, but it's more than nothing. Lena Luthor was the perfect character to choose for a Batwoman crossover. Her tech skills mean that she's just the right person to assist Ryan and Luke. Her history with evil brothers gives her a connection to what Ryan's been dealing with throughout season 3, too. This comic book tie-in manages to give fans what they missed out on and set up another crossover in the future.

Once again these hack writers show they still have absolutely no respect for Kate Kane’s legacy as Batwoman. Declaring the imposter is now “the bat of the future”. ?
At least I can take comfort in the fact that she doesn’t have a future anymore.
